Church of the Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa in Grabowo Królewskie

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (pol. Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa in Grabowie Królewskim) is located in Grabów Królewski. The village is located in the Greater Poland Province, Września County, Kołaczkowo Communeune.

This neo-baroque church was built in 1925-1927 on the site of the old church. The old church functioned until the new one was completed. Only then was it dismantled.

History – of the church in Grabów Królewski

Originally, the temple was dedicated to St. Jadwiga (pol. św. Jadwiga) and was founded probably in the 14th century in connection with the location (creation) of the village under German law (Magdeburg Law). The parish included Grabowo and the nearby Krzywa Góra. It was established after the division of the Biechów parish.

During the Nazi occupation, it was the only legally functioning church in the immediate vicinity. Therefore, masses, weddings and baptisms of people not only from Grabów, but also from the surrounding towns were held here.

The founders of the new church were the married couple Wanda and Witold Wilkoszewski. They were the owners of the property in Grabów Królewski. Stanisław Mieczkowski became the architect of the temple.

I came to the vicinity of this church quite by accident, in the fall of 2021.
