Nierozpoznani – a group of sculptures at the Poznań Cytadela Park

Nierozpoznani (i.e. Unrecognized) is a group of sculptures by Magdalena Abakanowicz located in the central part of the Poznań Cytadela Park.

The exhibition includes 112 anthropomorphic sculptures over 2 meters high, cast from cast iron. They are surrounded by a wide strip of grass. The figures have no arms or heads, only legs and a long torso. Looking at it from a distance, it gives the impression that they are going somewhere.

The ensemble was mounted and unveiled at the Cytadel in 2002. The entire project was sponsored by the VOX-Artis Foundation. And the initiator prof. Jaroslaw Maszewski.

The figures were made in the Iron Foundry in Śrem.
